AAF Import for Adobe Premiere Pro Preview

The Advanced Authoring Format (AAF) Import for AdobeĀ® PremiereĀ® Pro Preview, comprised of the AAF and FCPXProjectConverter modules, provides improved AAF import capabilities for Premiere Pro CS6.0.1. This preview release allows Premiere Pro users to import AAF sequences exported from Avid Media Composer that reference AMA and some Avid MXF media.

AAF Import Utility for Adobe Premiere Pro Preview

These downloads provide the AAF Import Utility for Adobe Premiere Pro Preview for Macintosh. There is no automated installer for this preview. The upgrade is a manual process and should be performed by qualified personnel ONLY. Note that there are specific installation procedures; please follow these procedures carefully. The current release is Mac-only and requires Premiere Pro CS6.0.1 running on OS X 10.6.8, 10.7.* (Lion) or later.

Installation Instructions

The AAF Import Utility for Adobe Premiere Pro consists of two modules, AAF.bundle and FCPXProjectConverter.bundle. These modules need to be copied into the application directories. Note that on Mac the directories are located inside the application package. (Right-click on the application icon, then choose Show Package Contents).

Premiere Pro CS6 for Mac: /Applications/Adobe Premiere Pro CS6/Adobe Premiere Pro CS6.app/Contents/Plug-ins/Common/

The following summary is provided for qualified users ONLY.

  1. Quit Adobe Premiere Pro CS6.0.1.
  2. Important: Navigate to /Applications/Adobe Premiere Pro CS6/ and make a backup copy of the Adobe Premiere Pro CS6.0.1 application file.
  3. Decompress and open the AAF Import Utility for Adobe Premiere Pro Preview ZIP file.
  4. Select AAF.bundle and FCPXProjectConverter.bundle, then choose Edit > Copy 2 Items.
  5. Return to the Adobe Premiere Pro CS6.0.1 application folder.
  6. Right-click on the Adobe Premiere Pro CS6.0.1 application icon and choose Show Package Contents.
  7. Open the Contents/Plug-ins/Common folder.
  8. Choose Edit > Paste Items.
  9. Close the Contents/Plug-ins/Common folder.
  10. Launch Adobe Premiere Pro CS6.0.1.
