Adobe® AIR® Launchpad preview is a new desktop tool that helps Adobe Flex® developers get started building desktop and mobile applications (iOS, Android, BlackBerry PlayBook) deployed on Adobe AIR. Simply run Adobe AIR Launchpad and select the capabilities you need; Adobe AIR Launchpad will create a ready-to-import Flex project with your selected features implemented in a way that can be easily modified and extended. You can use the resulting project as a starting point for your AIR application.
Adobe AIR Launchpad creates a folder structure with a ready-to-compile AIR application with the selected features implemented. It also creates a ZIP file in the parent folder that can be imported directly into Adobe Flash® Builder™. If auto update was selected, a "server" subfolder will be created that contains the xml file needed on the server to control auto-update. If an install badge was selected, a "install_badge" subfolder will be created containing the necessary files to create an install badge.
This software was designed and developed using the latest from the Adobe Flash Platform and Adobe Creative Suite, including Flash Builder 4.5, Adobe Photoshop® CS5.5, Adobe Flex 4.5 and Adobe AIR 2.6 or higher.

FAQ
- What is Adobe AIR Launchpad?
- Adobe AIR Launchpad is a desktop tool that helps Flex developers get started building desktop and mobile applications deployed on Adobe AIR. It generates a basic Flex project that can be used to jumpstart AIR application development in Flash Builder.
- Is Launchpad a code generator?
- Yes, Adobe AIR Launchpad is basically an application that creates Flex and ActionScript code packaged as a Flex project based on pre-selected options. However, the final output is not intended to be a useful application. Rather, it is intended to be a starting point for a new project.
- Is Adobe AIR Launchpad re-entrant? i.e. can I re-run it to change my selections?
- No. You'll need to re-run Adobe AIR Launchpad and create a new project.
- How do I import the project into Flash Builder?
- From Flash Builder, go to the "File" menu and select "Import" then "Flash Builder Project" and select the zip file that Launchpad generated.
- Can I use the resulting code and project in Flex Builder 3?
- You can import the project ZIP file into Flex Builder 3 but it will not compile until you remove references to the Flex 4 (Spark) components.
- Is Flash Builder or Flex Builder required?
- No. You can compile the resulting project using the Flex SDK command line tools. You will need to have the AIR 2.x SDK installed as well.
- What are the requirements to build mobile apps?
- In order to compile and deploy mobile apps generated by Adobe AIR Launchpad, you will need Flash Builder 4.5.
- Where can I find more sample code?
- Tour de Flex is a great resource with more than 500 Flex samples. To learn more, visit Tour de Flex on Flex.org.
