These release notes document the prerelease version of the Adobe® CinemaDNG Importer for Adobe Premiere® Pro CS5.5. This is the first prerelease of the CinemaDNG Importer for Premiere Pro CS5.5 and is labeled as version 5.5.

Overview

This CinemaDNG Importer plug-in adds support to Premiere Pro CS5.5 for reading CinemaDNG video streams in the form of MXF files and DNG file sequences. This version of the CinemaDNG importer also shipped in After Effects® CS 5.5. New features in Version 5.5 of the CinemaDNG importer:

• Settings dialog no longer uses the external Adobe Camera Raw plug-in
• New settings dialog with features specific to CinemaDNG
• Improved support for colorspaces

Installation instructions are detailed below.

System Requirements

The minimum system requirements for the CinemaDNG Importer for Premiere Pro CS5.5 are:

• Premiere Pro CS5.5, on Mac OS or Windows.
• Same hardware requirements as that of Premiere Pro CS5.5.

Installation and Setup

Install the CinemaDNG Importer for Premiere Pro CS5.5 on Windows

1. Download the CinemaDNG Importer ZIP file
2. Unzip the package and navigate to the unzipped location.
3. Copy the file ImporterCinemaDNG.prm to:
   <drive>:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5\Plug-ins\Common

Install the CinemaDNG Importer for Premiere Pro CS5.5 on Mac OS

1. Download the CinemaDNG Importer DMG file
2. Double-click on the DMG item to mount the installer virtual disk.
3. Locate the Premiere Pro CS5.5 application, generally in the folder /Applications/Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5.
4. Select the application icon.
5. Hold the Control key and either click the single mouse button or the left-mouse button (or click the right-mouse button).
6. Select the menu item "Show Package Contents".
7. In the Finder window that comes up, navigate to the folder Contents /Plug-ins/Common.
8. From the virtual disk, copy the file ImporterCinemaDNG.bundle to the above folder.

Once the plug-in is installed, the feature is available via the File > Import… menu in Premiere Pro CS5.5. CinemaDNG files may have a .mxf or .cdng (wrapper file) or .dng (frames stored in folder structure) extension.

Uninstall the CinemaDNG Importer for Premiere Pro CS5.5 on Windows

Remove the file ImporterCinemaDNG.prm from:
<drive>:\Program Files\Adobe\Common\Plug-ins\CS5\MediaCore

Uninstall the CinemaDNG Importer for Premiere Pro CS5.5 on Mac OS

Remove the file ImporterCinemaDNG.bundle from the Contents/Plug-ins/Common folder within the Premiere Pro CS 5.5 application folder.

Known Issues

• The Importer only supports 8-bit frames. Frames with higher bit-depths are not supported.
• To process a sequence of DNG files, the user selects the first file in the sequence. It is not necessary to select multiple files or to import a folder. The Importer automatically looks for sequentially named files in the same enclosing folder and builds a sequence from the found files.
