Installation Instructions

There are two sets of install instructions that are applicable for the Adobe Illustrator CS5 HTML5 Pack. If you have never installed the Illustrator CS5 HTML5 pack, follow the first set below. If you previously installed the Illustrator CS5 HTML5 Pack with Illustrator 15.0.1, follow the second set for guided steps to restore your system and upgrade to the latest software and plug-ins.

If you never installed Illustrator CS5 HTML Pack for Illustrator 15.0.1:

Windows

  1. If you haven't already, update Illustrator CS5 to 15.0.2. To update within Illustrator CS5 choose Help > Updates.
  2. Exit Illustrator CS5, if it is running.
  3. Backup the following files: (restoration of these files are required for any future update)
    <Install>\Adobe Illustrator CS5\Plug-ins\Extensions\Art Style.aip
    <Install>\Adobe Illustrator CS5\Plug-ins\Extensions\CharParaStyles.aip
    <Install>\Adobe Illustrator CS5\Plug-ins\Extensions\Layers Panel.aip
    <Install>\Adobe Illustrator CS5\Plug-ins\Illustrator Formats\SVG File Format.aip
    <Install>\Adobe Illustrator CS5\Support Files\Contents\Windows\SVGExport.dll
  4. Download the Illustrator CS5 HTML5 Pack and extract the contents to <Install>/Adobe Illustrator CS5/. This will prompt you to ensure that you want to replace all of the above 5 files. Confirm the replacement.
  5. Launch Illustrator CS5.

Macintosh

  1. If you haven't already, update Illustrator CS5 to 15.0.2. To update within Illustrator CS5 choose Help > Updates.
  2. Quit Illustrator CS5, if it is running
  3. Backup the following files: (restoration of these files are required for any future update)
    <Install>/Adobe Illustrator CS5/Plug-ins/Extensions/ArtStyle.aip
    <Install>/Adobe Illustrator CS5/Plug-ins/Extensions/CharParaStyles.aip
    <Install>/Adobe Illustrator CS5/Plug-ins/Extensions/Layers Panel.aip
    <Install>/Adobe Illustrator CS5/Plug-ins/Illustrator Formats/SVG File Format.aip
  4. Browse to <Install Location>/Adobe Illustrator CS5/Adobe Illustrator.app, Ctrl+Click and choose Show Package Contents.
  5. Browse to the location and backup the folder Contents/Frameworks/AdobeSVGExport.framework.
  6. Download the Illustrator CS5 HTML5 Pack and double-click to mount it.
  7. Follow the instructions in the DMG to copy/replace the Plug-ins/Frameworks to their respective folders.
  8. Launch Illustrator CS5.

If you installed Illustrator CS5 HTML5 Pack with Illustrator 15.0.1:

Windows

  1. Exit Illustrator CS5, if it is running.
  2. Manually uninstall Illustrator CS5 HTML5 Pack and restore Illustrator 15.0.1:
    1. Remove the following files:
      <Install>\Adobe Illustrator CS5\Plug-ins\Extensions\Art Style.aip
      <Install>\Adobe Illustrator CS5\Plug-ins\Extensions\CharParaStyles.aip
      <Install>\Adobe Illustrator CS5\Plug-ins\Extensions\Layers Panel.aip
      <Install>\Adobe Illustrator CS5\Plug-ins\Illustrator Formats\SVG File Format.aip
      <Install>\Adobe Illustrator CS5\Support Files\Contents\Windows\SVGExport.dll
    2. Restore all the removed files from the Illustrator 15.0.1 backup that you took while installing HTML5 pack. If you do not have the backup you can download the files.
  3. Update Illustrator CS5 to 15.0.2. To update within Illustrator CS5 choose Help > Updates.
  4. Make a backup of files mentioned in 2a above and place them at a location not within the install path (<Install>) of Illustrator CS5.
  5. Download the Illustrator CS5 HTML5 Pack and extract the contents to <Install>/Adobe Illustrator CS5/. This will prompt you to ensure that you want to replace all of the above 5 files. Confirm the replacement.
  6. Launch Illustrator CS5.

Macintosh

  1. Quit Illustrator CS5, if it is running.
  2. Manually uninstall Illustrator CS5 HTML5 Pack and restore Illustrator 15.0.1:
    1. Remove the following files:
      <Install>/Adobe Illustrator CS5/Plug-ins/Extensions/ArtStyle.aip
      <Install>/Adobe Illustrator CS5/Plug-ins/Extensions/CharParaStyles.aip
      <Install>/Adobe Illustrator CS5/Plug-ins/Extensions/Layers Panel.aip
      <Install>/Adobe Illustrator CS5/Plug-ins/Illustrator Formats/SVG File Format.aip
    2. Browse to <Install Location>/Adobe Illustrator CS5/Adobe Illustrator.app, Ctrl+Click and choose Show Package Contents.
    3. Browse to the location and remove the folder Contents/Frameworks/AdobeSVGExport.framework
    4. Restore all the files you removed from Illustrator 15.0.1 from the backup that you took while installing HTML5 pack. If you do not have the backup you can download the files.
  3. Update Illustrator CS5 to 15.0.2. To update within Illustrator CS5 choose Help > Updates.
  4. Download the Illustrator CS5 HTML5 Pack and double-click to mount it.
  5. Follow the instructions in the DMG to copy/replace the Plug-ins/Frameworks to their respective folders.
  6. Launch Illustrator CS5.
