Known Issues
International:
- This Beta 3 release is in the first stages of localization. You should expect to still see words in English as well as cosmetic issues such as alignment and truncations.
- When encountering “An error occurred during installation. The Updater is unable to locate the product to be updated”, check to make sure the installer language matches the Flash language. AIR Update Beta 3 for Flash CS3 Professional is not supported on languages other than English, French, German and Japanese. However, a zip file is provided in the International section that requires a manual installation. The AIR support UI will be in English. Please use it at your own risks.
Mac and Win:
- When encounter “An error occurred during installation. The update cannot be applied to the product”, Adobe Flash Player Update for Flash CS3 Professional (9.0.2) must be installed prior to running the AIR Update Beta 3 for Flash CS3 Professional. See Download and Install/Uninstall for more information.
- When testing a movie that contains AIR ActionScript API’s, you might encounter a compiler error that says the definition could not be found. This will only happen the first time test movie is used.
- When testing your movie with trace, no output is sent in the output panel. Use debug movie to view trace statements.
- Save as or moving fla file does not reset the application and installer settings properly and retains the previous fla settings. Use test movie to reset the swf file and application descriptor file.
- To use flash.net classes, drag the ServiceMonitorShim components from AIR Service Monitor in the Components panel to the library.
- Test/Debug movie and Create AIR File from the commands menu on the old AIR fla with settings from Beta 1 (M4) or Beta 2 (M5) fail due to application descriptor changes in M6. To regenate the file in M6 format, open the Application and Installer Settings from the Commands menu. You might lose the settings set in M4 and M5. Before opening the fla, rename the M4 or M5 application descriptor file and modify it to M6 format, then rename it back to swfname-app.xml.
Mac only:
- There’s no error checking. When packaging fails, there’s no error dialog so it might appear as if the task succeeded.
Windows only:
- ADL (AIR Debug launcher) might crash when testing movie on a swf that generates continuous trace. Use debug movie to test files with continuous trace.
- AIR file fails to publish with an unclear error message when there are double byte characters in the swf path.
Things to watch out for that might cause packaging to fail:
- Invalid characters in ID, file type name, file type extension fields.
- Space, double byte characters or high ASCII characters in path or file name
- Password does not match the selected digital certificate.
- Icon size does not match the specified size.
