About Adobe Wave
| Adobe® Wave™ is an Adobe AIR application and Adobe hosted service that work together to enable desktop notifications. It helps publishers stay connected to your customers and lets users avoid the email clutter of dozens of newsletters and social network update messages. Adobe Wave is a single web service call that lets publishers reach users directly on their desktop: there's no need to make them download a custom application or build it yourself. The Adobe Wave Prerelease program is geared towards developers, so if you’re a user who wants to try it out, click here to send us an email. We’ll let you know when Adobe Wave is available for you to try! Developers, sign up for the prerelease by clicking on the “Sign Up” link at the bottom of this page.
Adobe Wave allows consumers to opt-in to receive desktop notifications from their favorite publishers. Each notification carries a call-to-action: clicking directs users to a publisher-specified URL, driving traffic back to your site. Notifications bring activity and events on your site to users even when they’re not in the browser and not thinking about you. Unlike e-mail, Adobe Wave has been architected to be a trusted communications channel and consequently minimizes spam and phishing concerns.

| The Gallery, pictured at right, allows users to quickly and easily opt-in to receive notifications from a selection of sites. By providing a single source for notifications, Adobe Wave streamlines the experience for consumers and allows you to leverage the value of the Adobe brand. Instead of having to download multiple notification applications, users get the messages they care about when they want them in a single place.

How does Adobe Wave work?
| The ‘Notification Service’ is a Software as a Service (SaaS) offering hosted by Adobe. It is a fault-tolerant and highly available service infrastructure dedicated to providing reliable delivery of your notifications. A REST API enables you to reach users on their desktop without requiring you to have a desktop presence yourself.
The Publisher Portal is a website where you can create and manage notification feeds, including customizing notification appearance and setting up lists of topics for users to follow. After you have your feed perfected, you then invoke the ‘Send Notification’ API to send both global and user-specific notifications.
To introduce users to your Adobe Wave notifications, there is a customizable subscription badge for you to place on your website. This allows users to complete a two-click sign up flow and start getting your notifications (users are prompted to install Adobe Wave or Adobe AIR if needed).
