Overview

Welcome to the Adobe® ColdFusion® 10 Zeus release (previously codenamed "Zeus").

ColdFusion 10 Beta is an early glimpse of the ColdFusion 10 release. Some of the key features of this release include:

In addition, we have introduced substantial CFML enhancements and significant security improvements.

These are just a few examples of the advancements made so far with this release. For the complete list of feature additions of this release, see What's New in ColdFusion 10. The goal of the ColdFusion 10 Beta release is to give the community an opportunity to test and provide feedback on the new features. So, please use this opportunity to explore the new features and communicate your feedback. However, since it is Beta software, please do remember that there may be bugs, performance issues, incomplete features, and documentation issues.

Note: Although we do believe this release to be extremely stable, because this is a Beta release, we strongly recommend that you install the software on development and testing servers only.

Documentation

The following Beta-quality documentation is available online in HTML and Adobe Acrobat Portable Document Format (PDF) files.

Known Issues

The following issues are known to exist in ColdFusion 10 Beta and have not been fixed in this release.

3113543 - On 64 bit Windows machine, java.library.path ColdFusion does not take the path defined in jvm.config. Use Djava.library.path ={library path} to add library paths.

3107735 - Wsconfig upgrade command does not working on Sun System 7 Web server.

3092735 - To configure connector to a site running on 32-bit application pool, you must use the wsconfig tool and select the checkbox "Configure 32-bit web server"

2951053 - On Solaris-SPARC 10, when configuring Sun System 7 Web Server, you encounter an error. As a workaround,

  1. Install gcc under /usr/local.
  2. Go to startserv script in {sunwebserver}/{server_instance}/bin
  3. Edit startserv
  4. Append /usr/sfw/lib/sparcv9 to LD_LIBRARY_PATH_64 entry which contains libgcc_s.so.1

3043749 - In cluster setup, to configure connector (from command prompt) from any instance other than cfusion, you have to provide execution permission (chmod 755) to the user.

3042725 - JSP files placed in webserver's webroot are not served. You have to place them in ColdFusion's webroot.

3073887 - When you uninstall hot fix using ColdFusion Administrator, you see a message "ColdFusion Server will stop and restart server..". Though the server stops, it does not restart. You have to manually restart the server.

2961284 - CFM page that uses cfmediaplayer need to have html5 DOCTYPE and head and body tags as shown in the following snippet: <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head></head> <body> code </body> </html>

3108028 - You must add correct MIME type for the video formats in the web server for setting correct MIME type in the response.

2912352 - When you use cfmediaplayer, you have to specify the type attribute whenever the source element is specified. This is because, some browsers do not recognize the video until the encoding type is specified. This is a browser-specific behavior.

3014563 - cfmediaplayer with bgcolor value is ignored for HTML 5 player in Internet Explorer 9.

3110800 - In Server Monitor, the cache hit ratio in query cache status shows incorrectly.

3041846 - In Multi Server Monitor, when you register two ColdFusion server instances (running on the same machine with same hostname), you might experience issues while fetching settings from the server. This might result in an exception. As a workaround, register different aliases to the same IP address in the hosts file and associate each alias with individual server instances.

2996820 - In Server Monitor, eviction count statistics is incorrectly displayed in the Caching section.

3091420 - Server Manager supports only ColdFusion 10.

3045055 - If you configure ColdFusion with IIS for “All sites”, adding new site does not inherit required settings from “All sites”. To make your new site work with ColdFusion, do either of the following:

  1. Re-configure the ColdFusion connector for All sites.
  2. Create Virtual directory named jakarta with location as {CFHome}/config/wsconfig/{magic no folder create by All site configuration}
  3. Create a virtual directory named CFIDE and specify the path which contains the CFIDE folder.

3096196 - Only English characters are supported in instance name and cluster name.

3111259 - For session replication to work in cluster environments, do the following for each instance:

  1. Comment <Manager pathname=””> in context.xml present in cf_home\runtime\conf
  2. Add <distributable/> in web.xml present in cf_home\wwwroot\WEB-INF.
  3. Save the files and restart the instances.

72260 - When you write using cfspreadsheet, some Excel files may show increased file size with even a few or no operations.

3112641 - On Solaris, if older version of ColdFusion is located in non-default location, migration fails.

3111194 - Admin API cannot be used to start/stop/restart instances.

3114758 - invokeAndPublish and invoke methods cannot resolve CFC path if ColdFusion is configured with a web server.

3094569 - WebSocket Channel implementation does not work in cluster setups.

3110948 - ColdFusion WebSocket uses 8585 as default port. If port 8585 is already in use, then WebSocket will not work.

3110891 - Web-logic 10.3.4 handles basic authentication requests by itself and does not pass them to ColdFusion. Therefore, ColdFusion authentication fails on WebLogic 10.3.4. As a workaround, edit WebLogic's config.xml and add a tag before the snippet <security-configuration> ... <enforce-valid-basic-auth-credentials>false</enforce-valid-basic-auth-credentials> </security-configuration>

3110854 - LCDS 3.1 does not work with ColdFusion 10.

3112224 - Delta import feature does not work when you index Solr collection.

3112434 - When you deploy ColdFusion 8/ColdFusion 9 CAR on ColdFusion 10, debugging settings and event gateways fail to get deployed.

3042289 - Solr does not index files from In-Memory Virtual File System.

3043739 - JAI library causes memory leaks while handling JPEG2000 images. You can download the jar from http://www.jpedal.org/PDFblog/2011/03/java-jai-image-io-jpeg2000-memory-leak and use.

2947485 - When a task is created using the tag cfexchange with some of the fields empty (such as company or subject), the task cannot be retrieved from the Exchange Server 2010 (using tag). Operations are possible only using Microsoft Outlook.

2958727 - ColdFusion server performance slows down considerably when JSafe library is used. As a workaround, add the following JVM argument to in your J2EE application server:

-Dcoldfusion.jsafe.defaultalgo=FIPS186Random.
