Kuler:API FAQ
From Adobe Labs
The kuler API is available to web 2.0 developers who need access to unique color tools. These API calls are similar to other commonly used Rich Internet Applications and can be incorporated into any mashup.
| Table of contents |
How do I get started?
First review the API documentation above and the kuler Terms of Use, then download the kuler API logo ("colored by kuler") to include in your application.
Where can I get developer support on the kuler API?
The first and best way to get developer support is to review the kuler API wiki and kuler talk forum. If you are still unable to find an answer, please send your question to kulerapi(at)adobe.com.
Can I alter the “colored by kuler” logo?
No, you may not alter the logo. We have provided several different sizes, backgrounds, and versions with and without text for your use here. If you need a special size, email kulerapi(at)adobe.com.
Can I just use part of a theme?
In the spirit of maintaining the integrity of the theme creator’s intent, if you alter the colors and number of swatches, please don't refer to the original theme name.
Will there be more APIs?
kuler is still being developed, and we welcome your comments. Please participate in the discussion and recommendations on the kuler API wiki discussion and the kuler talk forum.
How do I let you know about my kuler mashup?
Send the URL to your mashup to kulerapi(at)adobe.com - we're always looking for new additions for the showcase!
What if I want to use the kuler APIs for commercial use?
The kuler Terms of Use do not allow the commercial use of the kuler APIs, but Adobe would welcome a discussion about your needs. Please feel free to send a proposal to kulerapi(at)adobe.com.
What colorspaces are supported in the RSS feeds?
Kuler supports CMYK, LAB, RGB, or HSV encoding of colors, depending on how the swatch was created. Color mode is indicated by the <kuler:swatchColorMode> element of the swatch definition.
Will there be an API for the desktop version of kuler?
The desktop version of kuler (aka kuler AIR) is based on Adobe AIR, and is an experimental release. If you are interested in an API, please write to us at kulerapi(at)adobe.com. (Get the latest kuler AIR here).
