disk not mounting

after downloading the mac dmg file, it fails to mount. What's up?

[edit]

SFTP

It would be nice if there was an SFTP choice for FTP to server.

By the way the disc mounted fine for me?

re: SFTP - AMG tries to connect via SFTP first and then falls back to FTP. There isn't any UI to switch between SFTP or FTP, but it should work. Have you tried to connect to your server?

ISSUES WITH NIKON D40 RAW FILES (removed by orig poster - turned out to be the issue listed after this)

[edit]

CANNOT USE PICTURE NAMES WITH SINGLE QUOTES

Turns out my Nikon D40 issues above had nothing to do with the D40 at all but had to do with the file naming I used when importing the shots. The pix were from Father's Day so I had the photo importer in Bridge CS3 auto rename all the files to "Father's Day 2007_001", 002, 003, etc.. When I created a slide show, neither images nor thumbnails displayed.

Once I removed all spaces (and that single quote in "Father's") everything worked fine. Maybe I missed this in the documentation somewhere but I just wanted people to know that it looks like filenames cannot contain a single quote (or perhaps it was the space?).

re: Thanks. We'll take a look at it and see if we can determine what's going wrong with the file naming.

Metadata

I've posted some of this already on the sourceforge discussion:

1. The caption/description was not getting written to the group.xml file (except for journal templates) so I have had to modify a few lines (around line 300) in the flashgallery.jsxinc file.

2. It seems that in the journal templates that not all of the metadata is being written correctly - again the relevant functions in the above file need to be looked at (for my own use I have just commented out the metadata lines I don't want, around line 430). Also didn;'t like it all being written to the title node.

3. Would like to see an option to have the title not in bold (again can work round by changing the above file to write the 'title' into the 'description'.

4. The full image metadata is not written to the rendition image files (except for copyright), it would be nice if this was the case. Again I can see how this could be done by adding suitable code where the copyright data is copied in the flashgallery script - or write out to a temporary xmp template ? But is there a more elegant way ?

Installation

There are no executable installation or setup files in the 1.2 download. Tried tech support from NAPP and from Adobe without any luck. Can someone provide step-by-step instructions - please?

 - “AMG 1.2” you are referring to is the AMG open source project for the Flash (.FLA) Source code:
http://opensource.adobe.com/amg/ AMG for Bridge doesn’t take advantage of any of the changes
in the AMG 1.2 SWF so there isn't a need to use any part of open source AMG 1.2 SWF source - jtranber

Also, can photos displayed by AMG be right click protected? ... and if so, how?

 - No. Not at this point in time. It's been logged as a feature request - jtranber

Hi- we just posted detailed instruction on how to get the 1.2 AMG opensource gallery working in Bridge CS3. The instructions are for Windows XP -but they should help Vista and OSX users too. You should then be able to preview and export the 1.2 gallery from Bridge.

Flash Galleries and Quirks Mode

It seems that flash galleries only show correctly when browser is in Quirks mode, when in standards mode the bottom part gets cut off - presume to do with browser not being able to determine the necessary height - anyone else found this problem ?

- I haven't seen that issue. What browser? Can you send me a screen shot of what you're seeing? jtranber adobe com - jtranber

It happens in Firefox Version2, but not in IE6 (but I suspect IE may still be being 'quirky'). Better than a screen shot: I have uploaded a quirks mode and stds mode version to my website:

quirks mode version is at: http://www.sr-images.co.uk/galleries/Scotland/index.php

standards mode version is: http://www.sr-images.co.uk/galleries/Scotland/indexstandardsmode.php

only difference between the files is presence of doctype on the first line.

If you expand/contract the browser window behaviour also differs between browsers due to (min)height set for IE to get acceptable display. Suspect this is due to the way in which the different browsers figure out the height of divs. Haven't tried IE7 yet (suspect as it is supposed to be more standards compliant than previous versions that it will behave more like FF)

I have also found that when you integrate the Flash item in a web page, nesting it in a table will fix the quirks as it will make the height and width fix.

Some questions re AMG in Bridge

1) When I generate a flash gallery on my desktop (MAC OS 10.4.10) and upload the folder containing the index.html file and resources folder to my server using Fetch, the gallery background displays, but the images do not load. When I use the upload utility directly in AMG, the gallery displays correctly. The index.html, and .xml files in the resources folders look the same, but clearly something is different ?

- Can you look at the permissions for the files? Sounds like there's something wrong there. - jtranber

Right you were. Permissions on image files generated locally denied read access to "everyone". Thanks !

2) Is there a way to add music by editing the style.xml file as described in http://blog.bluefire.tv/?cat=4 ? I tried using the bgmusic.swf file. Gallery plays, but no music.

- I haven't tried using the audio option, but I think it's expecting an MP3 file. - jtranber

Yes it does, and one needs to put this file in the resources folder as well. But I gather the bgmusic.swf file provided at the above link runs a flash "movie" that accesses the mp3 file

3) Is there an edit that will prevent show from looping when it comes to the end ?

- Not that I know of. Let me ask around. - jtranber

Thankyou !

4) Fri 10/25 9:29pm I am particularly interested in the "Journal with Slideshow" template, have looked around, but do not see a field or another place to put the journal entry?? -mark

Hope this is the correct forum for these questions. My thanks for a very nice addition to Bridge. Barry

LightRoom Flash Gallery "Web or Mail Link"

When I use the Lightroom Flash Gallery template, Style Information, there is a field titled "Web or Mail Link." Putting in a Web link doesn't work. I get an error message that what I entered does not look like an email addresss. I have tried different types of URLs and I still get the same error message. It always tries to make an email link.

Is there a way I can make this a Web address rather than an email address?

AMG file limit - macintosh

I found the fine print that says it only previews 10 images. Is there any way to change that number?

Can't make a video gallery?

I understood that I could make a video gallery with AMG, but when I try, the gallery displays the first still image only... the video does not play, either before of after uploading. Am I missing something?

--I can't view my videos with AMG either (.mov, .wmv. or .flv)... .Please help

Ten image limit?

I command clicked more than ten images in the content panel, and only the first ten appear in the preview panel after clicking AMG Preview. Is there a way to have more than ten, or is that the limit?
