Please Note: Download Links for Beta 3 currently do NOT work!

eclipse 3.1.1 can not install from the update manager

Is there a way to install the plugin on Mac OS X ? -> Flex Builder "This download will install Flex Builder 2, the Flex Framework 2, Flex samples, command line tools, and Flash Player 8.5 for Windows. It also contains a .dmg file that you can copy to your Mac in order to install Flash Player 8.5 for Mac"

Would it be possible to provide the Flash Player 8.5 alpha Mac disk image as a separate download? Providing it in a 124MB .exe is a little restricting...

Response (sfegette): Currently, no- the plug-in is not x-platform, and for now is Windows-only. The player team is considering a standalone download for the players, but I don't have a timeline to pass along- sorry. Quality/stability is a concern, as these players are really only intended to be used for viewing/running/debugging Flex 2 apps and as the IDE is not available for Mac yet, the decision was made to distribute them only with the IDEs. They're not intended for general usage/browsing. Keep posted...

Charting Install Instructions for Plug-in version.

I thought the plug-in install instructions for charting could have been clearer.

categories.xml will go here (starting with the plugins directory) plugins\zorn.editors.mxml_2.0.197\config and will replace the current categories.xml

charts.swc will here (starting with the workspace directory) workspace\.metadata\.plugins\zorn.project\defaultWebApp_2.0\WEB-INF\flex\frameworks

Link this page to the download page

This page should be linked to 'Download Alpha Releases', in particular to the section 'Flex Charting Components 2'. There it says 'This download will install Flex Charting Components 2.' which is not correct as it's not an auto-install. The instructions how to proceed with the zip archive given on _this_ page are needed for a manual installation.

Eclipse install error: No features found on the selected site(s)

If you get this error when installing the Eclipse plugin for Flex repeat the installation steps and make shure that before clicking on "Finish" you deselect the checkbox at the lower left: "Ignore features not applicable to this environment".

Above instruction DOES NOT solve the problem.

Installation bug

When trying to install option one from the installer on a WinXP SP2 machine, the installer asks me to select a different location to expand the install files into. When I do that, the installer starts to unpack the installer files in a new temp. dir. it creates on the selected location. Then it asks me to select a different location again. This seems to be an infinite loop, that can only be stopped be clicking "cancel", which quits the installer. When I run the .exe from the temp. dir, it tells me installation was completed with some errors, and leaves me with a partly installed program that cannot be deinstalled since deinstaller components are not fully installed either.

Installing Framework only on Mac OS X

It seems the instructions for installing the framework on Mac OS X for the Flex 2 Alpha [1] do not work for the new Beta release.. (now updated for Beta 1)

How can we install the Beta release, framework-only, on Mac OS X?

Uninstalling Flash Player

The install page refers to using a specific executable to remove the Flash Player Beta:

Uninstall Flash Player 9 Beta 3 by downloading and running the appropriate player uninstaller: * Windows: Player9_B3_Uninstaller_05-01.exe

But the text has NO link. Where can this exe be found, I see it nowhere on the site, nor in any of my flash related folders on my harddrive. What gives?

Edit: Actually you can download it from the same place you download Flex Beta3. At the end of the page...

Uninstalling Beta 2

There is a reference to removing the Beta 2 installation AND the project definitions, and it says to see the installation instructions, but the installation instructions makes no mention of how to remove the project definitions. How is this done?
