Macintosh Stand Alone Universal Binary?

How come the compiled Stand Alone Flash 9 Beta is only the PPC and isn't x86/PPC?

It's annoying to have to open a .swf in a browser to watch it on my Intel Mac because then I can't watch it fullscreen.

[edit]

Response

The Mactel browser plugin supports fullscreen mode. If you are unable to view content this way, it is because the author has not enabled their content to allow for this feature in the player. We do not have plans to distribute a Mactel standalone player until we have a universal binary version of an authoring tool.

Another Universal Question

(Thanks for the answer :D) So basically, we won't see a uni-bin of the FlashPlayer app until Adobe puts out the next version of Flash and Photoshop?

Re: Another Universal Question

I believe that Flex Builder for the Mac will include the latest standalone player. I am not sure if the current Labs beta inclkudes the FP9 Update, but I am fairly certain that the shipping version will.

And how is that fullscreen tool accessed?

Contextual menu? Keyboard shortcut?

Re: And how is that fullscreen tool accessed?

One can access this feature via the context menu or through an on screen button if the Flash developer has included one. For examples, please see Full Screen Mode Demos.

Re: Lightroom Reinstall Problem

Please make sure that you uninstall Lightroom before installing the new beta 4.1. If problems persist, please report this issue within the appropriate Lightroom bug forum.

I got that message after installing Lightroom to D:, my data partition. Worked fine after uninstalling and reinstalling to C:.

PS3 Beta

One thing that I've noticed upon initial use is that it is difficult to move docks over to an extra monitor (on Mac OS 10.4.8). Dragging any of the palettes removes them from the docking tool, which doesn't move easily. Is there a way to move it that I don't know about?

Br CS3

The new CS3 Bridge seems to be sluggish at best. Installation was successfull, however it crashes either immediately at start up or as soon as I try to make any(!) adjustments to the interface or access images.

[edit]

LIghtroom not responding

The last 3 times I've tried to import Canon Raw files Lightroom has completely locked up my Windows Xp (service pack 2) machine. Even Ctrl alt del doesn't work. The only way to free the computer is to turn off the power. The files are on an external hard drive, the drive light will turn off, but the "C" drive light is still on. I've imported a lot of shoots with no problem not sure what is causing this to happen.

photoshop CS3 initial thoughts

I'm using photoshop CS3 beta in OS10.4.8 on my G5 with 4gb RAM and 500gb+HD.

User comments: There doesn't seem to be a way to dock palettes to the top right of the main menu like on CS2 - I love that feature. The palettes in CS3 seem awkward - and the overall dark grey look is dingy and depressing ( yeah I know Apple's using the same look for some of its programs - why!? I have no idea). The little X's in the palettes look puny and "undesigned" - a little point, I know, but one that adds to my disappointment in the overall look of this wonderful program, especially when I'm sitting here working with these palettes for 12-14 hours a day. I see no speed increase over CS2, although I've not tested side by side, and don't have an intel mac to try it on.

There ought to be an upgrade feature whereby this version takes on the preferences (colour settings etc etc) from a previous version if installed. That would save a lot of time.

I'm very disappointed there's no text tabbing still - it makes working with text very hard - if I want a price list for example, I have to have one text layer for the items, ranged left, then another text layer for the prices, ranged right - very awkward. I know photoshop isn't meant to be a DTP program as such, but I find it easier to work in one program, and would like that program to be photoshop. Obviously, for larger jobs, I use indesign.

Can't comment oon Bridge cos I don't use it - seems like a complete waste of time to me.

So far, it's crashed just once, which is a major improvement over CS2.

Oh, and the Adobe web site is horrendously slow - timing out on many occasions while other sites fly in. What's goingon there!??

[edit]

Bridge CS3 does not always create thumbnails

Some images are not viewable in Bridge within the same folder but can be viewed when opened in Photoshop.

I have tried purging cache, rebuilding the cache. Hi quality preview.

Director 11?

Hi

Any news on the release of Director 11?

Will there be a beta available on Labs?

Thanks

Michael

It has been a long time already since Director MX 2004 was released to the public....many years already!

I also like to know when is the next version of Director scheduled to be released. Is a beta going to be available?

Thanks!

Oscar

Hi guys

Where is Adobe Director CS3? It's about time to release it, isn't it?

tks Fedoca

I've been putting off a client who wants to update some Director projects on the assumption that Adobe would be releasing a Mac-Intel compatible version "Director 11" in 2007 as promised. Well, it's almost the end of January 2008, and still no word about this. What say, Adobe?

According to the Adobe Director / Shockwave FAQ [1] a release announcement is anticipated in February of 2008. It is well known that the product is in beta and there was a sneak peek at Max in Chicago. Seems that you won't need to put off your client much longer.

>> From the FAQ >> When is the next version of Director software expected to be released? Adobe has not published an official time frame for the next release of Director and generally does not disclose details of new releases more than 30 days before a product is expected to ship. However, our current planning assumption is that the next major release of Director will be announced in February 2008. >>

Spry 1.6.1 breaks CDATA in dynamic tables

In 1.4, one could put CDATA enclosures around HTML markup in in XML files used to generate dynamic tables, for example:

<experience_item> <experience_date>September 1995</experience_date> <experience_data> Open Water Scuba Diver certification completed in Virginia </experience_data> </experience_item>

The HTML would render properly in the dynamic table. Now, in 1.6.1, the markup itself is reproduced in the table entry. What's going on?
