Hi Glenn,
re
"Response: This is the way the Linkage Properties settings work. The base class field is only used when Flash is auto-generating a class. When a custom class is used, the base class field is ignored, but will give an error if it is not set to flash.display.MovieClip. Glenn Ruehle 11:14, 16 May 2007 (PDT)"
What about this from the Flash documentation:
"The Base Class field's value defaults to flash.display.MovieClip. If you want your symbol to extend the functionality of another customer class, you can specify that class's name instead, as long as that class extends the Sprite (or MovieClip) class."
Thanks!
