What is Blueprint?
"Blueprint" is the code name for a research project at Adobe that takes the form of a plugin for Flex Builder 3. Blueprint allows users to query for code samples directly inside of Flex Builder 3 removing the need to go back and forth between a browser and the development environment. With Blueprint a user can type queries into their code and retrieve code samples found on the Web in documentation, blogs, and forums.
How is Blueprint different from a search engine like Google, Yahoo, or MS Live?
Unlike general search engines, which display lists of hyperlinks to potentially useful webpages, Blueprint displays examples as search results. Each example includes code and some English description. With Blueprint developers can quickly look through several potential examples and directly inject the most appropriate example in their code without switching their attention to a separate browser.
Are Blueprint results as good as those at Google, Yahoo, or MS Live?
Blueprint finds appropriate content using Google’s Custom Search Engine Service and so the code examples it displays are based on the search results one would see when using Google to look for code samples.
When will Blueprint work on Windows?
We are working on a Windows version of Blueprint. For now only a Mac version is available.
